RealLinks (RI) allows you to provide a feed from your patient administration system to a number of external systems, allows your patient index to be updated with information from external systems, and can be used to keep two instances of your patient index in step - without the need for expensive bespoke software.

Access to accurate up to date patient demographics is essential in any hospital department. RealLinks (RI) works on a real time basis to ensure that your disparate specialised hospital systems always have the latest patient information. Using an EDI interface between your patient administration systems and external systems significantly reduces delivery time of results and the possibility of transcription errors, and has the added benefit of freeing up valuable staff time that was previously spent re-keying results into disparate hospital systems.

RealLinks (RI) is already being used in conjunction with the EDS SWiftPAS. New interfaces to other systems can be developed quickly and easily.

RealLinks (RI) is written in Caché (MUMPS), a widely used programming language for medical systems. This means not only that it can run on a wide range of hardware platforms, including PCs, Unix systems and VMS, but that it can easily integrate with your existing Pathology and Renal systems.

RealLinks (RI) can be installed with minimal impact on your existing systems. For example, no changes are required to the EDS SWiftPAS.

RealLinks (RI) can be set up to extract only those demographics from the patient administration system that are meaningful to managing a patient's care and treatment.

RealLinks (RI) can be used in many different ways. It is deployed at some Trusts to provide a feed from the patient administration system for patients requiring cancer care - and feeding the data for those patients only to an external system. Other Trusts use it to update their patient administration system with information fed from an external system. Finally, RealLinks (RI) is also used where a Trust has two instances of SWiftPAS (in different hospitals) and needs to keep them in synch - whenever patient details are amended on one system, these changes are propogated to the other system in real time - a highly cost-effective alternative to complex and expensive bespoke software.

Simple to use

Once installed RealLinks (RI) runs quietly as a background process requiring minimal user intervention. RealLinks (RI) has a simple menu system to select the tasks you need and offers a system of access levels enabling each user to have their own password. You can customise the system so that people using it only have access to the functions they need.

Maximum automation

Once installed and running, most of the tasks necessary for the interface happen automatically - transferring patient demographics from the PAS; updating the PAS from an external system; keeping two instances of your PAS in synch.

Fully supported

RealLinks (RI) is fully supported. Our support contracts offer a four-hour response time, where a consultant will connect to your system to investigate and fix any problems.

Evolving

Enhancements - RealLinks (RI) is regularly enhanced to meet the changing needs of its users. Its flexible design means that the requirements of individual user sites can be incorporated readily.
